Video Poker – The Game

The game of video poker is played between a computer and the player. In the game, the computer first deals the player five cards. The player then makes a decision of the cards that he/she wishes to discard and clicks a button. The computer then discards these cards and reshuffles the pack to replace the cards that have been discarded. This new hand is then analyzed to check for a winning combination. If the resultant hand contains a winning combination, then the player receives a payout.

Although there are a number of different variations to the game, the minimum winning combination is a pair of Jacks and the best possible hand is a Royal Flush. In between, there are a number of hands like three of a kind, four of a kind and straight. All of these hands are ranked according to the type of game and regular poker hands.

Types of Video Poker

There are a number of different variations of Video Poker. All these games contain the basic premise of the game, however the difference lies generally in the number of hands played or the kind of payouts available in the payout table. The most common variations are the multi-hand and single-hand video poker games.

The single hand version of the game is similar to the game described earlier in this article, where the player’s hand is completed in only one way. In a multi hand game, when the player receives a hand and has decided on the discards, the hand containing the selected cards are replicated in a number of different rows. Each of these rows is then replenished with cards from a different pack. For example, in a 4-hand video poker game, players will have their held cards distributed in four different rows and each of these hands has a separate deck that replaces the discards. This means that the player has a higher chance of winning in this game. The advantage of playing the multi hand version is that the player has a better chance of winning.
